Landscape

ISO 800, 70 mm f/32, 1/100.  Didn't have a chance to go anywhere this weekend to try new areas so decided to include our sheep with the neighbor's new barn in the background. I tried many different angles, crops, settings.  I changed the color space to Adobe RGB (from sRGB) and Picture style is set on Landscape (from Standard).  I think the foreground fence is distracting but I didn't like the shot when I stood in the same pasture with the sheep trying for the same angle to include part of the road and the barn.  I'm standing on my 24" dog agility table which gave me enough height to avoid another foreground fence line. Shot on tripod.  The silly sheep had been eating grass for several days and I put a small bit of hay down in the corner for them to graze but they wanted to do galloping fits and leaping around the pasture instead so I had my roommate and one of our border collies  holding them in the corner from the gate outside this pasture.  (Bah, Ram, Ewe :>)))

  1. Ohhhh, sheep. I love sheep. Especially baby sheep. Nice colors and road. Is there a way to crop more of the green on the left out of the frame? Like right about that 1st metal stake on the left? It might pull the road (and eye) more across the picture instead of to the middle of the picture. Just a thought.

Sheep and a border collie too. Sigh.

    1. I tried cropping various angles, I didn't know if it was taking away too much of the green and too much highway, but I'll try this crop and see what happens :>)))))

  2. I think the image would have more life if the sheep were galloping and leaping. Its what sheep do!!! :-) AND where is the border collie to tell the story? Dog & Sheep go together! I once had one sheep named Betsy and she was always springing & boinging out in the field. I would see her flit past the kitchen window in mid air. It was hysterical. (Before I had a camera!) I thinkI'd be running those bad 'boys' around the field for crazy ACTION shots!!!! BAAAAA

  3. PS - You might get shot by your neighbor for instilling a sheep riot, but you'd get your shot!

  4. LOL! OK next time I'll get the shot of them running and leaping coming full tilt right at me. I had mental visions of being flattened at any minute but will try for that. Luckily all our neighbors have different kinds of livestock and we get all kinds of animal antics all around the neighborhood. I thought about getting one of our BC's in the shot, but didn't know if it would take away from a landscape shot...we would have to use one of our older dogs, the sheep were pretty reactive that day, feeling really frisky :>>>>
