All three photos reflect the categories I found I gravitate to the most: color, line, shape, values of light/dark, texture and emphasis (often not giving the viewer much choice in where to look). They also reflect my interest in close-ups. All three were taken in the past few months with my iphone .

Working in a series, either with specific equipment or theme, will advance your skills. The image that stands out for me is the yellow flower. The diagonal placement of the subject creates an interesting negative space that supports contrast for the focal point. I love my iphone (now my iPad) camera for those quick experimental 'the best camera is the one in your hand' shots. I think of it like my digital sketchbook. When I hit on an exceptional shot or idea, I will grab my 5D and explore the subject with more creative options available.
ReplyDeleteI think that my iphone has become that digital sketch book. But I agree that I need to take the time to go back and do series work with my "real" camera (just picked up a nikon D5100) so I can advance.
