Melanie - Passion for family history

This was taken raw, ISO 100, f4.5, 1/60sec, 38mm, remote shutter release. macro lens, reflector, and a tripod.  I have been working on a family tree, so this inspired me.  The typewritter was my mom's and I learned to type on it.  The pocket watch belonged to my husband's grandfather, the jewlery belonged to my mom.  Various old photos have my mom, grandmother, other relatives, and even me next to the typewriter.  Taking photos goes hand in hand with family history.

  1. Is there more than one Melanie in the class or just one Melanie with lots of passion? :) - I love the arrangement of things in this photo. It certainly tells the story of a family and makes me want to know more about their history! Very cool idea.

  2. Excellent "Still Life". Tis could be an editorial or commercial use image. You did a great job 'lighting' the set. All the little pieces grouped together balance the larger object. My eye moves through and stops on each object and connects to something in my life. Very interesting!!
