John's Moons

Taken at 10 PM ISO 100, 271 mm; f 8.0; 1/250
Cloudy Moon shot at 9:45 PM  This was an attempt to get a picture of the moon while the  clouds were just passing by very fast.  I tried a variety of settings and this shot , I feel, was the better of them. ISO 100, 300 mm; F5.6;  0.6 sec.

  1. Lovely detail on both pictures. I also love the cloud shot. My cloud shots last night covered too much of the moon and I couldn't get the timing down of just having the moon break thru the clouds. Very lovely. Thanks for the techniques, I'm going to experiment again tonight with more settings.

  2. I forgot to ask what WB setting did you use?

    1. Hi, I shot in RAW AWB and changed to Flourescent in Lightroom. I was very lucky to get the cloud shot after at least a hundred tries. Thank you for the nice comments.

  3. A lovely capture - love all the detail of the moon in both shots but I think I like the second one best with the clouds add a nice sense of depth to the shot.
