Cornelia K - Week 3, Landscape

Artist Statement:  In photography there is taking a picture and there is making a picture. For my digital photography, I want it to be more about making the shot, the experience, and creative expression rather than waiting for the perfect shot to happen.

On Sunday, I was surprised by how nice the weather turned out. Wes and I were heading home about 8:30 pm, coming down Crestview Loop from Cooper's Point on the backroads. Suddenly, there was the mountain. I could not resist because it looked so beautiful in the setting sun. With exercise A, I shot the same shot with all the lens in my bag. This image taken with the lowly 105 mm, macro lens, an "unlikely" choice.

On Saturday we attended a photography seminar. One speaker's talk was called "Giving Sharpening a Rest." The presentation spoke to my heart. I took alot of shots get this one. Its like a impressionistic painting, my dreamscape.

  1. I agree - give sharpening a REST. BUT, it's easier said than done!!! It's a tricky thing and takes practice. Sometimes we get it TOO unsharp and the subject is unrecognizable and the image doesn't work. Another suggestion here would be to, set the camera on a tripod, slow shutter, and move each individual flower to add blur at different degrees while keeping some of the surrounding background sharp.
